Approach

Bringing the known into the unknown

My work in a project starts in prep, when I read the script and identify scenes with intimate content. The Production Department organize an interview with the director where they share with me their vision of the intimate scenes that we have highlighted. Then I meet with each performer separately to inform them about all details related to the scenes and the director's vision, so that they are able to grant a conscious consent, and if needed, help them to set a boundary. I also coordinate with the different departments the needs of the scenes such as modesty garments, barriers, prosthetics, riders, closed sets protocols.

While I advocate for the safety of the performer, I do not interfere in the director's creative process and their relationship with the actor unless I have been invited to join the conversation.

I make myself available and present for the actor on set in moments that feelings of vulnerability might be triggered.

I prepare and document myself in order to support the storytelling, and I take care of myself so that I can help the production in the delicate pursuit of balance while shooting.
